I would say Merry Christmas but that has already been and gone. I would like to however wish you all a happy new year! We are only hours away to 2016 and I am super excited. I have had/having a wonderful time with friends and family which has come with a lot of calorie intake but can I just say again how much I love December! In my opinion, it is the best month of the year and I hope you have all had a great time so far with your loved ones.
I would firstly like to say thank you to all who read my blog. It has been a year since I started blogging and although I have a long way to go to where I envisioned, knowing that I’m sharing and creating content that touches you guys to keep coming back is a great feeling so thank you for being here. I started this blog as a form of self discovery and I must say putting your thoughts, feelings or visions in writing does something. It helps you piece everything together. I’m so glad I took this on because my creative juices are flowing. I can’t wait for the year to come as I plan to unapologetically express myself in so many ways so please bare with!
With that said, 2015 has been ‘THE’ learning year for me. I have already shared a lot about this in my 29 post from my birthday so I won’t repeat myself and risk sounding like a broken record. But I have come to the realization that knowing and embracing oneself is the greatest lesson in my opinion. When you understand you, who you are, what makes you tick, what excites you, why you act/react the way you do, a whole new world opens up.
I have learnt that authenticity is the key to happiness. Being true to yourself is the only thing that will keep you truly fulfilled. To put it simply, you have the power to be where you want to be: Mentally, spiritually, emotionally, everything. You are responsible for your own happiness. No one will complete you or suddenly come into your life to make you happy. In the same way that I have embarked on a journey of self love and discovery, my advice is take 2016 head on. Find the things that make you happy and do it. Find people that enable you to be all you can be whilst ensuring that you remain true to yourself. I just had a call with my coach who ensures I am always on track with what I said I’d do. You need people whom you are accountable to, they will help you to continuously grow and stay focused.
Once you understand or rather look at the reasons behind all your actions, you start to piece together who you are. A definition of yourself begins to emerge. The good news is, if you don’t like what you see, you can change it! That’s the beauty of life.
Without knowing we have already defined who we are based on past experiences and future expectations. But if you look at yourself without these two reference points what are you left with? The present! What happenes in the present? No one knows. Just as you can’t predict what is going to happen in the next 5 minutes or 2 hours, you cannot predict who you are going to be. So why spend your life with a preconception of who you are? Please refer to my previous post on being present from a couple of weeks back where I talked about this in depth. Don’t get me wrong I understand everyone has different values, comes from different backgrounds and all these factor in to who we can and can’t be. What I am saying is, don’t create a mental prison for yourself which a lot of humans do, live there then say that life sucks. It doesn’t! You just made it suck because you created that world.
I have understood and grasped this one principle and I must say for the first time in a long time I feel so FREE! This coming year I vow to myself to live authentically and in the moment. That’s it! No resolutions in the sense of having a list of stuff that I’ll do for two weeks then give up. I have my goals in life and what I want to be doing in 6-12 months or even when I’m 40 years old. I will definitely work towards them but in the same breath, if I don’t achieve these things in the time frame that I have conjured up, I will not be depressed or wavered. I will carry on working towards my dreams and when I am ready, they will surely come to pass. Until then I will enjoy the ride! However bumpy or not, I plan to forever ensure that by the time I’m in my old age (God willing) I am not going to have any regrets but I’m going to look back and thank God for blessing me both in small and big ways. I want Him to be proud of me for embracing the greatest gift given to all which is life!
So happy new year guys:) I wish you all the very best in everything that you do. May all your dreams come true and remember to be yourself and continuously live the life that you want. Only you are responsible for your life and fulfillment.
Love to you and yours.
