I thought I’d go a bit deeper for this blog post as one of my main aims when I started this blog was to share all the deep stuff that is in my head. Stuff that I think about daily because I’m so so deep….lol
With that said, in my life, I have had numerous situations or times where I was ready to give up.
I’ve had moments where everything felt like it was all too much and I was ready to give up on life because let’s be real, life sucks!…sometimes. You can endure so much pain that you just think, bruh! I’m tired of this and what’s the point? Now I hope I’m not the only one who has experienced such moments because if I am, that would be well awkward! Lol.
I personally think that everyone goes through tough times and if you’re reading this and you don’t, please correct me while telling me your secret! I sincerely believe that anyone who says or seems to have it altogether all the time is lying! Not only to themselves but to the world. You gotta keep it 100! Everyone has or will experience rough moments in life, that’s a guarantee! Be it the loss of a parent, loved one, job, business, house, whatever we as humans hold dear. One day something will shake up your life as you know it and for sure it will leave you shook! The question is, how do you handle such things when they happen?
For fellow Christians the answer to that question is fairly simple. Pray! I would say, yes, that is an essential step but in my view, the first and most important step would be having faith that things will get better. If you don’t believe that things will get better, prayer can only do so much. When you are in the thick of your despair or sadness ,you have got to believe deep down that things will get better and even become great! Faith can do wonders as it allows you to act differently. Instead of sitting and waiting for doomsday, faith allows you to see a new day as a fresh opportunity to take life into your hands and try to change the circumstance you are in if you can change it.
The best example of this and I’m sure everyone who has watched the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness would agree. If you haven’t watched it….Girl Bye!
Will Smith captured exactly what I’m talking about. He had every reason to give up, he lost his business, wife, home, everything we deem important. But he never gave up hope that things would get better. Some would argue his son was his inspiration to keep going but I disagree. I do think his son was an additional motive for him to keep going but I don’t think that is what came first. Deep down he had to believe, hope and have faith that things would get better which kept him going. That comes from deep down within a person and I love that story as it demonstrated so perfectly how we should all strive to be. Quitting should not be in our vocabulary, no matter how hard it is!
If there is anything I’ve learnt is that you have to keep going. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy and there will be days where you’ll cry yourself to sleep because it’s all too much. when I’m in such a situation and I’m all up in my feelings or I’m just giving someone else encouragement, I just say,’ Go on and cry girl(or boy)! Let it out!’ It’s amazing how light and free you feel after letting all that emotion out. It means you have allowed yourself to feel whatever emotion that’s there. As my favourite motivational speaker, Iyanla Vanzant once said, “You have to feel, deal then heal” Inorder to move on. After you’ve poured your heart out, try to understand the situation you are in. Meditate and pray. This is all part of dealing with the situation. Once you have done this, allow yourself to heal. Pick yourself out of the pit after eating all the ice cream you could find, dust your shoulders off and keep it moving. Notice I said ‘YOU!’ No one else can pick up your load even though there may be people around you who can help by offering support. We all have to carry our own bags of crap! Some have lighter loads than others but don’t get me started on that one lol.We are responsible for ourselves so we have to learn to how to deal with the hard times we will face in life. Having faith is the number one key to winning the battle. The battle that we create in ourselves. I don’t have everything all figured out but I am learning how to deal with things that come my way. Sharing is the best form of healing and I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Please leave comments below😊
Never give up! Better days are still ahead.
Wishing you a blessed and faith driven week.
